I am traveling to Japan for a business trip to observe a program that I will be conducting in Korea next week.
There is so much to learn, and I have been preparing with a lot of focus and tension.
Perhaps that’s why I feel like I really need to stay alert.
**The Night Before the Flight: A Realization – I Need to Stay Focused
While checking in online the night before my flight, I realized that I had switched my first and last name.
Panicked, I called the airline, but thankfully, they said I could correct it at check-in, so there was no issue.
This has never happened to me before, but I was relieved that it worked out.
Apparently, T’way Air and Eastar Jet also allow name corrections at check-in.
**Lesson Learned on the Day of the Flight: Nothing Should Be Taken for Granted
Whenever I take the airport limousine bus to Incheon Airport, it always goes past Terminal 2 before stopping at Terminal 1. So, I naturally assumed this would be the case again.
As the bus arrived at a terminal, an announcement was made instructing passengers to disembark.
However, I was too absorbed in watching Netflix and didn’t pay much attention.
When the bus arrived at the second terminal, I realized—it was Terminal 2!
This time, the bus route was from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 instead of the usual direction.
The moment I got off at Terminal 2, I rushed to take a taxi back to Terminal 1.
Luckily, my flight was delayed, so I wasn’t late, but the whole experience was quite chaotic.
**July, Three Years Ago: The First Time I Missed a Flight
Three years ago, I went on a family trip to Cebu. At the time, I was extremely overwhelmed with work and had no mental space for anything else.
When booking the return flight, the departure time was listed as "2:00."
Without a second thought, I assumed it was 2 PM.
The next day, we arrived at the airport at 2 PM, only to find that our flight was nowhere to be found.
To my shock, the flight had actually been at 2 AM, not 2 PM.
My husband assumed I had everything under control and didn’t double-check, so by the time we realized, the flight had already left 12 hours earlier.
That day, for the first time, our entire family had to repurchase tickets at the airport to return home.
It was a truly miserable experience.
